[Amended 2-10-1984; 7-12-1993; 12-3-2001; 9-6-2011; 12-3-2012]

A. Membership. A local Joint Planning Commission is hereby created for the County of Appomattox and Town of Pamplin City, Virginia, and said localities shall by an agreement determine the membership of the Commission and their terms of office.

B. County members. Any member whose term has expired may continue to serve until a replacement is appointed by the Board of Supervisors, but in no case shall the member serve for more than six additional months. Members may be appointed by election district, and, if so, any member who moves or otherwise is no longer a qualified voter of said County election district, but is still a resident of the County, may complete his unexpired term at the discretion of the Board of Supervisors.

C. Member of the Board of Supervisors as Planning Commissioner. One member from the Board of Supervisors may serve as a Planning Commissioner. The term of such member shall be coextensive with the term of office to which he or she has been elected or appointed.

§ 19.1-2 Removal from office; compensation.

A. Any member may be removed by the Board of Supervisors for malfeasance in office, provided that such removal may be made only after a public hearing before the Board of Supervisors at which such member is given an opportunity to appear and be heard on the charges against him.

B. All members of the Planning Commission shall receive such compensation as determined by the Board of Supervisors.

§ 19.1-3 Powers and duties.

The Planning Commission shall have all the functions, powers, and duties prescribed for local planning commissions by state law.
